Something Old/Something New

Time to restart the Something Old/Something New posts!! I really love having this 'excuse' to make sure I'm keeping my stitching practice fun and exciting!!

This month I have the following projects I'm working on...

My 'Something Old' isn't very old at all. This is the newest Prim Society club chart from Threadwork Primitives. This will make into a 'Stitcher's Pad' with a pin cushion built in. This is a really pretty design that has many possibilities for color and different kinds of projects. I'm one that likes my stitching to be useful, and I'm not sure how useful this will be as it seems that it would take up a lot of space just to be a pin cushion, but I'll make it how it's intended and maybe I'll play with it another time to make something else out of it.

And here is my 'Something New'. This one is a kit and I'll be making it for LoveQuilts. The theme was to be 'realistic dog with no girl colors'. It's been a while since I've done a kit and I forgot just how big of a pain sorting out all those threads are! As it was I needed to buy different fabric since the rules for LoveQuilts is that they fabric has to be cut at 13x13" so they have some wiggle room to shape the block for the end quilt. And there are a lot of color changes in this one, but it is really cute and should make a nice block for a little boy. I haven't done a block for LoveQuilts for a while now, so while this one will be a bit of a challenge, I'm pretty excited to get to work on it and send it in.

That is it for now. Hope you are all having lots of stitchy fun too!! :)

Something Old/Something New March 2014

I'm a day late on this!! We were busy moving furniture and organizing piles of books/magazines/papers and misc other things that I found laying about every where!! Now the furniture is all arranged and it is much nicer in the living room, but I still have a bit of the organizing to do. I'm not sure where all this stuff came from!!!

I was able to make some progress this past month on my Something Old and Something New projects.

I finished (just today!!!) Prairie Schooler's Spring Ornie!! I think this is the second or third time I've stitched this one. Every time I get it finished an exchange comes up that it would be perfect for and so I give it away. There is another exchange coming up that this would work for, but I think I'm going to keep this one for myself:)

And here is my pathetic start on what was my Something New for last month. This will be Bent Creek's Winter Snapperland, and I made an exciting 1 1/2 box start!!! LOL It is a start though and that's all that matters. :)

This is Chessie and Me's Flower and Bird Sewing Roll and it's what I picked out for my Something Old for the month of March. I will probably need two months for this one as it has two charts in it. One for the front of the sewing roll and one for the inside. But as you can see, I have a pretty good start on it, so it may not take super long.

And this is my Something New. I'm really excited about this one. I joined in on the Ladies Prim Society, hosted by Dyeing to Stitch, this year after hearing (and seeing) all the fun projects they had for last year. There are a few stitching 'clubs' going on, and since I really like Threadworks Primitives and Blackbird Designs (the two designers for this particular club) I thought I would join. I am so glad I did, because this is a really cool project:) It came with the fabric, thread, fabric and instructions on putting this 'Stitcher's Wallet' together.

So do you have any fun new or old projects you are working on right now? I'm going to go ahead and keep doing this SAL even if no one joins along, because I am really enjoying it. You can join in at any time that you want. Just post an old and new project that you are currently working on and then link up here:)

My YOTA post will be up tomorrow. Not much progress on it I'm afraid, but something is something:)

Something Old/Something New REPEAT-REPEAT!!!

With so much stitchy and crafty fun this past month I never ended up stitching on my Something Old/Something New projects!!! Oh, well, this is just for fun anyway and so there is no stress:)

I am just going to use the same old and new projects for this month!! And since I don't have so much going on this month, or at least not yet anyway, I should have time to get to these.

So what is this Something Old/Something New all about? I just wanted a fun challenge for me to get more of my UFOs and WIPs done (those projects started at some point in the past that are collecting dust now) and also a way of rewarding myself each month with a new project to start as well:) So each month I will pick out an 'Old' project to try and finish that month and also start on a 'New' project.

If you want to join, just link up below. Don't worry if you can't link up today, or if it needs to be next week or whenever. Like I said, this is just a fun little challenge. No stress at all:)

Tomorrow I will post on my YOTA progress, but I'm going to spend the rest of today stitching on it:)
Have a beautiful weekend!!!

Something Old/Something New

So I said in my last post that I was wanting to host a Stitchy Challenge. My version is called...

'SOMETHING OLD/SOMETHING NEW'

Here are the 'rules'...

I will be picking out an older project that I've had laying around a while (a WIP) and also a new project, either something I have but haven't started or something I just bought for myself:) Those two projects will be my main focus for the month. Around the first of every month I will post what projects I picked and give an update on how I did the month before.

What if you don't stitch? Maybe you quilt or crochet or knit. That works for me too!!! Just so long as you are picking an older project you want to try and finish and a new project just for fun!!

I would love to have you join me!! All you have to do is use the linky  wiget below to link up your post and let me know what you are working on. I'll get a 'button' created too if anyone would like to use that:)

So here is what I've chosen for the month of January...

My 'Old' project is Spring Ornie from The Prairie Schooler and my 'New' project is Winter Snapperland from Bent Creek. I thought the spring chart would balance out the winter chart:) This should keep me pretty busy!! Especially with all the other sals and challenges I posted about earlier today:)

Happy Creating!!!
